Training Classes
Training classes are offered in 4 session courses. In our courses, we will focus on the skills that would be needed to complete the Canine Good Citizen title (participants can elect to schedule the testing for an additional fee). The skills that are worked on in class may include:
- Sit
- Down
- Stay/wait
- Loose leash walking
- Greeting a person nicely
- Coming when called
- Walking on leash with various distractions
- Allowing ears and feet to be handled as well as brushed by a stranger
- Maintaining control with another dog present.
Board and Train
Board and train is available on a limited basis. We prefer to only utilize board and train with young puppies (8 to 16 weeks old) to provide a solid foundation in the following:
During the board and train, your puppy will live as a member of our family - interacting with our dogs, sleeping in our bedroom (in a crate), and learning the skills necessary to get them started on the right paw. :) We provide weekly progress reports, posts to Facebook page, and a transition plan to assist you with continuing the progress at home. We also remain in communication with you after the puppy returns to your home to help you build on what they have learned. We suggest utilizing our train at home option to further build on the foundation that was started. Because we only take in a limited number of board and train at one time, this option is offered on a limited basis. Cost: $300 per week (minimum of 2 weeks)
- Potty training
- Mealtime manners
- Intro to leash walking
- Intro to obedience skills (sit, down, wait, leave it, etc)
- Crate training
- Other skills as determined between owner and trainer

Train at home
In our train at home option, our trainer will visit you and your dog at your home or other public location. During the initial evaluation, we will visit about your goals, evaluate your dog and develop a training plan. Training sessions may begin with our trainer working primarily with your dog, but will evolve to all members of the family working with the dog. We are firm believers that there is not one perfect training method or practice that works on all dogs at all times - this is why we take the time to get to know you and your dog during the training to process. We utilize a balanced approach to training that is focused on being dog-friendly and using a variety of types of reinforcement and corrections to shape behaviors. Cost: $50 per hour (trip fee may also apply)
AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy
In order to earn the AKC S.T.A.R puppy award, the trainer and owner will work together a minimum of 6 sessions. Some of these sessions can occur in the home, but others will need to occur in a public location. If we have multiple puppies available at the same time, this program can be completed in small groups.
